If you are looking for a staycation or just want to see some of the best glamping campsites Aberdeenshire has on offer, we have created a list with some incredible options!

Whether you are looking for a hot tub under the stars or a base while you take part in some adventures across the countryside, we have something for you!

Pennan Aberdeenshire

Deeside Holiday Park

Deeside Holiday Park is located in Kirkton of Maryculter, not too far out of the city and they offer a variety of accommodation options from caravans, lodges and glamping pods.

Even better, some of these options come with the added perk of a hot tub, which I know is something that, quite rightly, many of us look for when booking a trip away.

The glamping pods have a lounge area with a fire-effect electric heater & TV, a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining area and a washroom with a shower and toilet. They even have an upper mezzanine for additional sleeping space.

This could be a great choice for families looking for Aberdeen campsites as they offer a games room and TV lounge, a playpark and you are both close to the city and local amenities, as well as being near some fantastic Aberdeenshire locations including castles, parks and walks.

The glamping pods can accommodate from 2-6 people and are pet-friendly.

Braemar Caravan Park

Located in the beautiful area of Royal Deeside, Braemar Caravan Park and Camping Pods are at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.

This is great for those looking to get away from it all or for those that would like to enjoy some outdoor activities like golf, cycling, and walks and if the weather fits, you can enjoy some winter sports like skiing!

The pods themselves are quite basic, they are heated and have comfortable mattresses, a kettle and a microwave but you do have to provide all other cooking and sleeping requirements yourself.

You will have access to on-site toilet and shower facilities but these are shared, so this is definitely more suited towards those that are looking for base campsites near Aberdeen rather than those looking for a luxury getaway, in my opinion.

The Braemar camping pods are on the Invercauld Estate and sleep up to 4 people. They are dog-friendly.

Boutique Farm Bothies

The Boutique Farm Bothies are more of a luxury glamping site. A little less like camping, they describe themselves as boutique boltholes.

There are three bothies located on this farmland in Aberdeenshire, The Sheep Shed, The Barley Bothy and The Dairy at Denend.

Each one is different, filled with bright colours, all are uniquely decorated and all offer wonderful views over the countryside.

The bothies feature some great touches like roll-top baths, wood-burning stoves and pizza ovens while The Dairy At Denend also offers a gorgeous bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows with incredible views over the night sky and the use of a hot tub.

The Boutique Farm Bothies sleep 4 (The Sheep Shed accommodates 2) and all are dog friendly.

Cairngorms Glamping

Cairngorms Glamping can be found in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire. I think Cairngorms Glamping offer a great location for those that love outdoor activities but also for those looking for a scenic getaway.

The cabins are quite basic in terms of interiors although they do offer hot water and electricity.

You will have access to a hot tub during your stay and the benefit of no light pollution due to its location which will make for some magical evening views.

They even have a ‘Nature Corner’ where you can pet and feed some pygmy goats, sheep and horses or attempt to feed their golden pheasants. You can also learn more about growing your own produce and if available, you can pick your own fruit and veg.

Cairngorms Glamping Pod sleeps 4 and they are pet friendly.

Clochfurbie Yurts

I love yurts! I think they are so fun and a little bit different to the standard cabin or pod, so I’m really happy to be adding some Turriff glamping, in the shape of the Clochforbie Yurts, to the list.

The yurts are really colourful inside and offer far more than I think you would initially expect. They each have a fully-equipped kitchen with a kitchen bar for eating.

They also come with a shower room with towels, shampoo etc. and use of TV/Wifi. And best of all, each has access to a spa hot tub on the decking.

There are plenty of things to do in the area, such as the Macduff Aquarium, The Whisky trail, castles, museums, plenty of parks, swimming pools.

When arriving, you will also receive a welcome basket with some tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk, which I think is a really nice touch.

Clochforbie Yurts can accommodate up to 3 adults and 3 children.

Down On The Farm

Heading north on our glamping Aberdeenshire list, you can find Down On The Farm in Fraserburgh.

This is one of my favourites. There are four different types of accommodation available; High Seas Hobbits, Coastal Carriage, Harvest Hut and Crossgates Cottage.

Each offers something special and a little bit different, whether it is views over the Moray Firth, an outdoor cooking area or a secluded cottage to get away from it all.

There are plenty of things to do and see in the area such as castles, beaches (check out the Rattray Head lighthouse!), golf and whisky trails.

Another unique option is to take part in one of the farm tours on offer! There are trailer tours as well as lambing and sheep shearing tours depending on what time of the year you visit and all visits end with a hot drink and fresh farmhouse baking.

Accommodation can hold up to 4 guests depending on size (Crossgates Cottage is dog-friendly).

The Lily Pod

The Lily Pod is a Romany-style glamping pod in Cruden Bay. Cruden Bay is a gorgeous small village, near Slains Castle (the inspiration for Bram Stokers Dracula), BrewDog taproom, beaches and a golf course.

Along with the glamping pod, you have access to a private kitchen area, hot tub, campfire and BBQ area.

There is access to a smaller pod with your toilet, shower and basin and an even smaller pod if you are looking to take any pets!

It’s a beautiful and eclectic option for a getaway!

The Lily Pod can accommodate up to 2 guests and pets. Not suitable for children.

Tahuna Bothies

Tahuna Bothies are quite a new but definitely welcome addition to glamping in Scotland!

The bothies are a modern design, with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the beach. They feature a shower and small kitchen area along with 1 double and 1 king-sized bed.

Just minutes from the bothy, you can spot the Newburgh seal colony that lives on the mouth of the Ythan River. There is the beautiful beach on which they lie and close connections to many of the castles and picturesque villages that Aberdeenshire have to offer.

There are three bothies which can accommodate up to 4 guests. One bothy is dog-friendly.

Sweet Donside Cabins

Found in the Cairngorms National Park, Sweet Donside Cabins and Sweetheart Cottage are in a great spot for those that like sightseeing, walking, skiing, exploring or even visiting one of the many castles in Aberdeenshire!

Guests receive a hamper of freshly baked goods and a bottle of wine to get their holiday started which I love and think makes a trip away feel even more special, especially when enjoying the open fire or the Love Shack with its own private hot tub!

It’s a true home-from-home with all kitchen utilities, including a washing machine so you can truly relax and not worry about getting mucky outdoors but if that’s not your thing, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.

All cabins sleep 2. The Sweetheart Cottage and The Wee Beehive are dog friendly.

Shepherd’s Loch

Shepherd’s Loch is in Turriff, near the Banffshire coast. There is a cabin ‘The Fishing Hut’ (with the addition of a hot tub), glamping pods and a yurt to choose from.

Set on a mixed farm of livestock and crops, there is ample opportunity to spend time outdoors and learn about your surroundings and get back to basics.

Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the fresh produce, such as eggs and veg that is available and to cook on the wood-burners outdoors.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy, including fishing, walking, cycling and wild swimming.

If you are looking for a campsite on the east coast of Scotland, then Shepherd’s Loch can accommodate you for £12 pitch, per night.

Accommodation can sleep up to 4 guests (potentially more if children) and is dog-friendly.

Glen Dye Cabins And Cottages

This might be the ideal camping or glamping choice for the person that wouldn’t typically entertain the idea.

Each property has its own wood-fired Swedish hot tub, BBQ, record player and games and you will also have access to the wood-fired sauna along with the garden and trailer for fresh eggs and vegetables. Better yet, you can visit The Glen Dye Arms, their own BYOB pub with log fire.

All of the properties are very different and definitely worth checking out. They can accommodate between 2-7 people and are dog friendly.

Seafront Cottages

Fraserburgh is a fantastic option for glamping Scotland and the Seafront Cottages are just metres from the sea, offering extraordinary views!

The glamping pod, Door To The Shore has underfloor heating, a wet room, small kitchenette while the cottage, Pew With A View has floor to ceiling windows throughout the property which offer the opportunity to watch the waves or spot some nearby wildlife.

The eco-glamping pod, Door To The Shore, can sleep 2 guests and is just 2 metres from the sea.

Pew With A View is a fisherman’s cottage that can sleep 4 and accommodate pets, this is 5 metres from the sea and is pet friendly.

Howe Of Torbeg

Set in the heart of the Cairngorms countryside and only 5 minutes from the nearby town of Ballater in Royal Deeside, Howe of Torbeg offers the most picturesque of backdrops.

All pods have electricity and electric heating and an outdoor Kadai fire bowl for BBQs and nights under the stars. You can also choose to have either twin or double bed sleeping arrangements.

Along with all of the walking and cycling routes in the area, if you choose to have a more relaxing experience there is a shared Snug at the Howe of Torbeg filled with games, a wood-burning oven and where they also have a small shop on site.

Each pod can accommodate up to 2 people while the Shepherds Hut can take a family of four (with 2 children under 16). Unfortunately, it is not pet friendly.
